Competition BBQ
COMPETITION BBQ A WORLD OF
ITS OWN
Competition BBQ is a world of its own and is what separates the pitmasters from the backyard grillers. To compete, pitmasters must cook the following flavor profile categories: chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket. Contestants then present six succulent servings to a panel of certified judges to determine a winner.
Pitmaster Jim Johnson has 33 years of experience and holds 78 Grand Championships in the art of American BBQ. Jim has retired from the BBQ competition circuit, but is still very active in the BBQ community.
As an International Instructor for the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS), Jim instructs in person and online classes teaching students across North & South America and Europe. He teaches various barbeque topics ranging from barbecue basics & essentials to expert competition-level barbecue techniques.
